Community Meditation: Finding Equanimity on Election Night

Join Maya for a Community Meditation session. Maya will lead participants in a shamatha (peaceful abiding) meditation practice together, followed by a short teaching and group discussion on a different theme related to mindfulness. Suitable for beginners or experienced meditators. All are welcome.

This session falls on Election Day. No matter your political affiliations, tensions are sure to be high. Rather than staying glued to your screen, come practice in community and engage in conversation around how we can cultivate equanimity even during challenging times.

Community Meditation occurs every first and third Tuesday from 6-7 pm at Firefly Studio.

Sliding Scale $10-20 via cash, Venmo @maya-rook, or card.

Drop in or sign up in advance here.

Meet Your Host:

Maya Rook, the creator of Firefly Studio, was raised in a Buddhist household and learned to meditate at a young age. She brings over 27 years of formal meditation experience, worked as the Head of Programs for a non-profit meditation center in NYC, has taught many introductory and specialty meditation and movement classes, and coordinated intensive retreats. With this solid ground of practice and hands-on experience, Maya aspires to make meditation practices accessible to everyone, break through common misconceptions about mindfulness, and help people connect with the present moment through breath and movement.
