Every year many Americans gather around a feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on the fourth Thursday of November. But how did these “traditional” foods end up on the table? Are they reflective of the supposed “First Thanksgiving” of 1621? And when did dishes like candied yams, green bean casserole, and ambrosia enter the scene?
Expect a brief overview of the true story of Thanksgiving and then dive deep into the origins and evolution of the most popular dishes associated with this holiday. Learn something new and get some tasty morsels of information and insights about culinary traditions to share around the Thanksgiving table this year.
Participants will also receive historic and modern recipes to try out at home.
